Germany, Heer. An Award Group to Unteroffizier Josef Raab
A grouping of several Second War items belonging to Josef Raab. The lot includes an Iron Cross Second Class, a cross pattée of multi-piece construction with a blackened iron core (magnetic) within a ribbed border, the obverse with a raised central mobile swastika with the re-institution date “1939” in raised numbering on the lower arm, the reverse with the original institution date “1813” in raised numbering on the lower arm, measuring 44 mm (w) x 44 mm (h), on loop for suspension with the period original ribbon, and in overall very fine condition. Accompanied by the award document dated 18 August 1941.In addition, the lot features Heer insignia such as a shoulder board (Hauptmann infantry), collar tab (Officer/infantry/white), and cap badges. Miscellaneous documents include a 1939 map of the 7th Division’s campaign against Poland and shooting practice targets.As well, the grouping features a Gedenkmuenze (Commemorative Coin) dated 1944, measuring 70 mm in diameter, with a leather strap threaded through two punched holes.
