Germany, Wehrmacht. A Spanish Cross, Silver Grade
(Spanienkreuz in Silber). Constructed of silver, the obverse consisting of a Maltese Cross with pebbled arms, with each arm joined through the quadrants by a finely-detailed Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, with a central mobile swastika set within dual rings, the reverse with an elongated block hinge and tapering vertical pinback meeting a rounded catch, marked with a silver content number of “900”, measuring 55.92 mm (w) x 55.91 mm (h), weighing 30.4 grams, with evidence of factory removal of swords to the reverse, in overall near extremely fine condition.
