Germany, Wehrmacht. A Spanish Cross, Silver Grade with Swords, by Paul Meybauer
(Spanienkreuz in Silber mit Schwertern). Constructed of silver, consisting of a Maltese Cross, the obverse with pebbled arms and a central mobile swastika set within double rings, with crossed swords piercing the centrepiece, each quadrant joined by a Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse with a block hinge and tapering vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked with LDO code “L/13” for Paul Meybauer, Berlin, measuring 56.48 mm (w) x 56.72 mm (h), weighing 31.2 grams, age-appropriate tarnishing evident, in overall near extremely fine condition.
