Klasse mit Schwertern”; maltese cross in bronze; on loop for suspension - marked “41” for “Gebrüder Bender, Idar Oberstein an der Nahe”; with a mint and unissued period original ribbon; the obverse with crossed swords between the arms of the cross and a circular raised border of oak leaves on the obverse with a raised mobile swastika in the center; the reverse with a circular raised border of oak leaves bearing the institution date “1939” in raised numbering; measuring 46.74 mm (w) x 46.74 mm (h); weighing 19.2 grams. Accompanied by its period original LDO presentation case of issue; constructed of pressed paper, with a lightly textured burgundy coloured faux leather (leatherette) exterior; the exterior of the lid embossed with “LDO” in silver lettering; with a recessed medal bed and a fully intact exterior paper hinge; measuring 68 mm (w) x 68 mm (h); in overall mint and unissued condition.
