A Second War German War Merit Cross Second Class with Swords and Packet
A maltese cross in bronzed tombak; on loop for suspension -marked “51” for “Eduard Görlach, Gablonz an der Neisse”; with its period original ribbon; the the obverse with crossed swords between the arms of the cross and a circular raised border of oak leaves on the obverse with a raised mobile swastika in the center; the reverse with a circular raised border of oak leaves bearing the institution date “1939” in raised numbering; measuring 48.02 mm x 48.33 mm; weighing 27.9 grams. Accompanied by a paper packet; with “Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern” printed in black gothic lettering on the obverse, and “Gebrüder Bender, Oberstein an der Nahe” printed in the same style on the reverse (note that the paper packet and War Merit Cross are mismatched); measuring 105 mm x 60 mm; better than very fine condition.
