Germany, Luftwaffe. A War Merit Cross II Class with Swords, with Award Document, by Klein & Quenzer
(Kriegsverdienstkreuz II. Klasse mit Schwertern mit Verleihungsurkunde). Constructed of bronzed zink, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Maltese Cross with pebbled arms and with crossed swords through the centrepiece, the obverse bearing a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a wreathed date of “1939”, unmarked, measuring 47.95 mm (w) x 48.45 mm (h), weighing 18.6 grams, accompanied by its period original package of issue, constructed of brown paper stock, the exterior bearing an inscription of “KRIEGSVERDIENSTKREUZ 2. KLASSE MIT SCHWERTERN” and a maker’s mark of “KLEIN & QUENZER, OBERSTEIN”, measuring 60 mm (w) x 105 mm (h), with some loss of finish and material fatigue evident to the cross and package, respectively, in overall very fine condition; accompanied by its award document, named to “STABSFELDWEBEL GUSTAV DREßLER”, issued in Hamburg on 30 January 1945, featuring a facsimile signature of General der Flieger Ludwig Wolff of Luftgau XI, measuring 148 mm (w) x 210 mm (h), with a central folding crease, in near extremely fine condition.
