Constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension with its period correct replacement ribbon, consisting of a Maltese Cross with crossed swords piercing the centre, the obverse with a central mobile swastikfinside an oak leaf wreath, the reverse with a raised date of “1939” within an oak leaf wreath, unmarked, measuring 48.74 mm (w) x 49.35 mm (h) inclusive of suspension, weighing 20.9 grams, accompanied by its period original case of issue, constructed of card stock with a faux black leather exterior, the obverse with a silver embossed “LDO” for “Leistungsgemeinschaft Deutscher Ordenhersteller” (“Guild of German Awards Manufacturers”), the reverse inscribed with “Kriegsverdienstkreuz II Klasse mit Schwerter Original” (“Original War Merit Cross II Class with Swords”) along with the logo of manufacturer Wilhelm Deumer, the interior with a depressed yellow felt medal bed, measuring 70 mm (w) x 78 mm (l) x 15 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
