A War Merit Cross, II Class, constructed of gilded bronze in the shape of a Maltese cross with a circular raised border of oak leaves around a mobile swastika in the centre obverse, the reverse with a circular raised border of oak leaves bearing the institution date 1939 in raised numbering, on loop for suspension from period replacement ribbon, measuring 48.56 mm (w) x 49.09 mm (h), and in very fine condition, accompanied by its period original paper envelope, constructed of light orange construction paper, the obverse presents the award title in black ink KRIEGS-VERDIENSTKREUZ 2. KLASSE, the reverse presents the maker mark CARL WILD, measuring 69 mm (w) x 104 mm (h), and in good condition.
