Constructed of zink, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Maltese Cross with pebbled arms, the obverse with a central wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse with a central wreathed date of “1939”, unmarked, measuring 49.22 mm (w) x 50.03, weighing 21.0 grams, accompanied by its period origina pocket of issue, constructed of light brown paper stock, the exterior with an inscription of “KRIEGSVERDIENSTKREUZ 2. KLASSE MIT SCHWERTERN” (“WAR MERIT CROSS 2ND CLASS WITH SWORDS”), with a maker’s mark of “FRANZ BREUNING, PFORZHEIM”, measuring 60 mm (w) x 106 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
