Germany, Wehrmacht. A Knight’s Cross of the War Merit Cross Miniature Set, with Case, by Steinhauer & Lück

A Knight’s Cross of the War Merit Cross miniature set, consisting of a boutonniere, constructed of silvered bronze alloy, consisting of a Maltese Cross with pebbled arms and crossed swords through the centrepiece, the obverse with a central wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse with a central wreathed date of “1939”, the twelve o’clock arm with an integral loop and suspension ring connecting to a button with a period original ribbon, the button maker marked on the reverse with a “LDO” logo and with “STEINHAUER & LÜCK, LÜDENSCHEID”, the cross measuring 16.28 mm (w) x 17.73 mm (h); accompanied by a stick pin, constructed of silvered bronze, depicting the War Merit Cross in both II and I Classes, unmarked, measuring 18.75 mm (w) x 11.42 mm (h); also accompanied by a period original presentation case, constructed of a wooden frame with a faux light brown leather exterior liner, the interior with a padded white satin lid liner, opening with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release and a functional metal hinge, unmarked, measuring 60 mm (w) x 120 mm (l) x 25 mm (h); some loss of finish is evident to the crosses, there is material fatigue to the case liner, and the case is missing its medal bed and the lid liner as been repurposed to accommodate the crosses with consequent damage, in overall very fine condition.
