A Second War German Silver Grade Infantry Assault Badge
A second war German “Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen” silver grade; oval shaped oak leaf wreath in silvered zink, with a national eagle clutching a swastika on the top and a bowtie on the bottom. Diagonally across the badge is a Karabiner 98k with the bayonet attached to the front of the barrel and the carrying sling hanging from the rifle; the reverse plain; with a vertical round wire pinback, a sheet metal hinge (with a repaired cross pin), and a round wire catch; unmarked; measuring 61.39 mm x 47.02 mm; weighing 28.2 grams; slightly curved; in better very fine condition with the majority of its original silvering still remaining.
