Germany. An Early Silver Grade Infantry Assault Badge in Tombac
A second war German “Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen” silver grade; stamped oval shaped oak leaf wreath in silvered tombac, with a national eagle clutching a swastika on the top and a bowtie on the bottom. Diagonally across the badge is a Karabiner 98k with the bayonet attached to the front of the barrel and the carrying sling hanging from the rifle; the reverse plain; with a vertical round wire pinback, a sheet metal hinge, and a flat wire catch; unmarked; measuring 62.36 mm x 47.05 mm; weighing 14.4 grams; with attractive old patina on the badge; in better than very fine condition.
