A mint and unissued Wehrmacht Heer Demjansk Schild; constructed of stamped sheet metal (magnetic); the shield featuring national eagle with swooped down wings, clutching a wreathed swastika, with a log-pillbox on either side; inscribed “Demjansk” in capital letters with a frontal view of a single-propeller and two crossed swords, with the institution year “1942” on the bottom; on a field-grey wool backer; the reverse with its paper backer and its four pins; measuring 60 mm x 110 mm; an uniform removed example with small holes visible on the paper backer from previous uniform use; in overall near extremely fine condition.
