Germany, Heer. A Demjansk Shield, Army Issue
(Ärmelschild Demjansk). Constructed of silvered feinzink, affixed with four reverse attachment prongs to a magnetic metal backplate and field-grey wool twill backer, the obverse consisting of a shield with crossed swords, topped by a plane and above a raised date of “1942”, in turn topped by an inscription of “DEMJANSK” and a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, flanked by log pillboxes, unmarked, the shield measuring 51.95 mm (w) x 92.88 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
