Germany, Heer. A Narvik Shield
(Narvikschild). Constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of a shield bearing a raised anchor, propeller, and edelweiss, representing the Kriegsmarine, Luftwaffe, and Gebirgsjäger, respectively, topped by an inscription of “NARVIK” and German national eagle perched on top of a wreathed swastika, affixed to a magnetic metal backplate and with all reverse attachment prongs intact, with a field-grey liner indicating Heer issue, the shield measuring 40.56 mm (w) x 91.05 mm (h), unmarked, with moderate oxidation and loss of finish evident to the shield, in fair condition.
