Germany, Kriegsmarine. A Narvik Shield
(Narvikschild). Constructed of gilded zink, the obverse consisting of a shield bearing a propeller, anchor, and edelweiss, representing the Luftwaffe, Kriegsmarine, and Gebirgsjäger, respectively, flanked by a date of “1940”, topped by a raised inscription of “NARVIK” and a German national eagle perched on a wreathed mobile swastika, affixed with a magnetic metal backplate to a dark blue wool backer, the shield measuring 42 mm (w) x 92 mm (h), in better than very fine condition.
