Germany. A Wound Badge, Gold Grade, in its Presentation Case of Issue, by the Official Vienna Mint
(Verwundetenabzeichen in Gold). Constructed of oval shaped gilt tombac; the obverse pebbled with a Stahlhelm in the centre featuring a large mobile swastika on its side superimposed on crossed swords within a wreath of laurel leaves with a tied bow at the bottom; the reverse plain with a vertical needle style pin, and a functional hinge/catch; measuring 36.68 mm (w) x 44.21 mm (h); weighing 34.7 grams. Accompanied by its presentation case of issue; constructed of heavy pressed paper, with a burgundy faux leather (leatherette) exterior; with a slotted medal bed and a functional exterior metal hinge; marked “Hauptmünzamt Wien, III” on the underside; measuring 65 mm (w) x 65 mm (h); in virtually mint condition.
