Germany, Wehrmacht. A Panzer Assault Badge, Silver Grade, by F.W. Assmann & Söhne
(Panzerkampfabzeichen in Silber). Constructed of silvered feinzink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, overlaid by a Panzerkampfwagen IV on grassy ground with its left tread extending beyond the wreath, the reverse with a raised crimped hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked with the logo of F.W. Assmann & Söhne, Lüdenscheid, measuring 42.08 mm (w) x 60.28 mm (h), weighing 18.3 grams, loss of silver finish evident, a semi-hollow version with evidence of repair to the catch, in overall near extremely fine condition.
