Germany, Wehrmacht. A Wound Badge, Gold Grade, with Case
(Verwundetenabzeichen in Gold mit Etui). Constructed of gilded tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, with a central Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with a crimped barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked, measuring 38.16 mm (w) x 45.73 mm (h), weighing 30.9 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a card stock frame with a faux black leather exterior, the interior with a faux white leather liner bearing a LDO logo, with a slotted composite fibre medal bed, measuring 65 mm (w) x 65 mm (l) x 22 mm (h), minor oxidation and loss of finish is evident to the base, with material fatigue visible throughout the case, a rare version in overall better than very fine condition.
