Germany, Heer. An Infantry Assault Badge, Silver Grade, by Richard Simm & Söhne
(Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen in Silber). Constructed of silvered feinzink, presenting as an oval oak leaf wreath, with a German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika on the top and a bowtie on the bottom, diagonally across the badge is a Karabiner 98k with the bayonet attached to the front of the barrel and the carrying sling hanging from the rifle, the reverse with a ball hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked “R.S.S.” for Richard Simm & Söhne, Gablonz, measuring 48.88 mm (w) x 62.76 mm (h), weighing 24.9 grams, in extremely fine condition.
