Germany, Heer. A Wehrmacht Heer (Army) Panzer Assault Badge, in Silver, c. 1942
(Panzerkampfabzeichen, in Silber). Instituted on 20.12.1939. (Issued 1939-1940). Constructed of oval shaped silvered zink; the obverse with a border of oak leaves with a tie at the base and a Panzerkampfwagen IV superimposed in the centre on grassy ground, with its left tank track extending over the edge of the badge, the reverse plain with a vertical needle style pin, a crimped ball hinge, and a crimped round wire catch; marked “R.K.” for “Rudolf Karneth” on the reverse, measuring 42.86 mm (w) x 62.52 mm (h), weighing 28.0 grams; in overall good condition.
