Germany, Wehrmacht. A Panzer Assault Badge, Bronze Grade, by E. Ferdinand Wiedmann
(Panzerkampfabzeichen in Bronze). Constructed of bronzed zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, around a central Panzer IV rolling over grassy terrain, with its left tread extending beyont the edge of the wreath, the reverse with a crimped hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked with the logo of E. Ferdinand Wiedmann, Frankfurt, measuring 42.10 mm (w) x 60.23 mm (h), weighing 26.0 grams, demonstrating total loss of bronze finish, a late-war example in very fine condition.
