Germany, Wehrmacht. A Panzer Assault Badge, Bronze Grade, by Hermann Aurich
(Panzerkampfabzeichen in Bronze). Constructed of bronzed zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, around a central Panzer IV rolling over grassy terrain, with its left tread extending beyond the edge of the wreath, the reverse with a depressed and crimped hinge with a vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked with the logo of Hermann Aurich, Dresden, measuring 41.61 mm (w) x 60.05 mm (h), weighing 29.7 grams, demonstrating loss of finish throughout and some oxidation to the lower half of the obverse, in very fine condition.
