Germany, Wehrmacht. A Panzer Assault Badge, Bronze Grade, by Rudolf Souval
(Panzerkampfabzeichen in Bronze). Constructed of bronzed zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, around a central Panzer IV rolling over grassy terrain, with its left tread extending beyond the edge of the wreath, the reverse with a crimped hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked with the logo of Rudolf Souval, Vienna, measuring 41.90 mm (w) x 60.02 mm (h), weighing 31.7 grams, demonstrating total loss of bronze finish to the base metal with minor surface oxidation, in addition to a crude repair of the catch, in fair condition.
