Germany, Wehrmacht. A Panzer Assault Badge, Silver Grade, by Edelmetallwerke List & Hertl
(Panzerkampfabzeichen in Silber). Constructed of silvered tombak the obverse with a border of oak leaves tied at the base, topped by a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the obverse with a Panzerkampfwagen IV superimposed in the centre on grassy ground, with its left tank track extending over the edge of the badge, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked “EWE” for Edelmetallwerke List & Hertl, Wien, measuring 42.22 mm (w) x 60.08 mm (h), weighing 38.0 grams, accompanied by its period original pocket of issue, constructed of tan-coloured paper stock, the obverse marked “Panzerkampfabzeichen”, the reverse with a maker’s mark of “Edelmetallwerke List & Hertl, Wien”, in extremely fine condition.
