Germany, Wehrmacht. A Panzer Assault Badge, Silver Grade, by Hermann Aurich
(Panzerkampfabzeichen in Silber). Constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a swastika, around a central Panzer IV rolling over grassy terrain, with its left tread extending beyond the edge of the wreath, the reverse with an embedded integral hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked with the logo of Hermann Aurich, Dresden, measuring 41.62 mm (w) x 60.15 mm (h), weighing 27.8 grams, loss of finish is evident throughout in addition to several small gouges to the obverse and some oxidation to the reverse, in overall very fine condition.
