Germany, Wehrmacht. A Panzer Assault Badge, Silver Grade, by Friedrich Orth
(Panzerkampfabzeichen in Silber). Constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, around a central Panzer IV rolling over grassy terrain, with its left tread extending beyond the edge of the wreath, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked with the logo of Friedrich Orth, Vienna, measuring 42.16 mm (w) x 60.21 mm (h), weighing 30.3 grams, demonstrating moderate loss of silver finish and a spot of oxidation to the five o’clock position of the reverse, in better than very fine condition.
