Germany, Wehrmacht. A Panzer Assault Badge, Silver Grade with Case, by Hermann Aurich
(Panzerkampfabzeichen in Silber mit Etui). Constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, around a central Panzer IV rolling over grassy terrain, with its left tread extending beyond the edge of the wreath, the reverse with a maker-unique crimped hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked with the logo of Hermann Aurich, Dresden, measuring 41.64 mm (w) x 60.04 mm (h), weighing 28.4 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of two pieces of unmarked card stock and retaining a period original wax paper liner, measuring 55 mm (w) x 80 mm (l) x 15 mm (h), in overall extremely fine condition.
