A third reich period German “Legion Condor” black grade wound badge “Verwundetenabzeichen”; oval shaped gilded bronze (non-magnetic); the obverse pebbled with a Stahlhelm featuring a large mobile swastika on its side superimposed on crossed swords within a wreath of laurel wreaths with a tied bow at the bottom - of note are the exceptional details on the laurel leaves on the wreath; the reverse plain with a vertical needle style pin, sheet metal hinge, and a round wire catch; measuring 43.35 mm x 38.23 mm; weighing 8.0 grams. Accompanied by a LDO case; constructed of heavy pressed paper, with a textured black faux leather (leatherette) exterior; lined interior lid - embossed “LDO” in black lettering; functional spring catch with stud release; partially severed fabric hinge cover; with a slotted medal bed; functional exterior metal hinge; measuring 70 mm x 69 mm; in overall near mint condition.
