A Cased Third Reich Period German Condor Legion Black Grade Wound Badge
A third reich period German “Legion Condor” black grade wound badge “Verwundetenabzeichen”; oval shaped blackened bronze (non-magnetic); the obverse pebbled with a Stahlhelm featuring a large mobile swastika on its side superimposed on crossed swords within a wreath of laurel wreaths with a tied bow at the bottom - of note are the exceptional details on the laurel leaves on the wreath; the reverse plain with a vertical needle style pin, sheet metal hinge, and a round wire catch; measuring 43.23 mm x 37.91 mm. Accompanied by a black case for a gold grade wound badge; constructed of heavy pressed paper, with a textured black faux leather (leatherette) exterior; unpadded lined interior lid with a slotted medal bed; functional spring catch with stud release; intact interior fabric hinge cover; functional exterior metal hinge; measuring 69 mm x 68 mm; the reverse with a sticker reading “Hauptmünzamt Wien III”; a gently worn example; in overall near mint condition.
