Germany, Wehrmacht. A Silver Grade Wound Badge, First Pattern
(Verwundetenabzeichen in Silber). Constructed of silvered brass, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, around a central raised Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with a crimped barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, unmarked, measuring 39.02 mm (w) x 44.40 mm (h), weighing 13.6 grams, with most of the silver finish lost and some exposure of the brass base metal along high-contact points, in very fine condition.
