An example of a gold grade “Verwundetenabzeichen”; oval shaped gilt tombac; the obverse pebbled with a Stahlhelm in the centre featuring a large mobile swastika on its side superimposed on crossed swords within a wreath of laurel leaves with a tied bow at the bottom; the reverse plain with a vertical needle style pin, and a functional hinge/catch assembly; maker marked “30” for “Hauptmünzamt, Wien” on the reverse; measuring 36.32 mm (w) x 43.75 mm (h); weighing 34.3 grams; with approximately 40% of its original gilt finish remaining, in overall near very fine condition.
