Germany, Wehrmacht. A Silver Grade Wound Badge, First Pattern
(Verwundetenabzeichen in Silber). Constructed of silvered bronze, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath with scalloped edges, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, with a central raised Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with a crimped hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, unmarked, measuring 38.46 mm (w) x 43.98 mm (h), weighing 15.9 grams, a superb example of an early badge commonly issued to Condor Legion personnel in near extremely fine condition.
