Germany A Silver Grade Wound Badge by Steinhauer & Lück in Case
A second war period silver grade wound badge “Verwundetenabzeichen”; oval shaped silvered tombac; the obverse pebbled with a Stahlhelm in the centre featuring a large mobile swastika on its side superimposed on crossed swords within a wreath of laurel leaves with a tied bow at the bottom; the reverse plain with a vertical needle style pin, a barrel hinge, and a flat catch; marked “4” for “Steinhauer & Lück, Lüdenscheid” on the catch; measuring 36.70 mm (w) x 44.13 mm (h); weighing 33.7 grams. Accompanied by its presentation case; constructed of heavy pressed paper, with a burgundy faux leather (leatherette) exterior; with a slotted medal bed, and a functional metal hinge; measuring 39 mm (w) x 69 mm (h); a well preserved example, with nearly all of its original silver finish remaining; in overall near mint condition.
