Germany, Wehrmacht. A Silver Grade Wound Badge, with Case, by Hymmen & Co.
(Verwundetenabzeichen in Silber mit Etui). Constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, around a central raised Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked with LDO code “L/53” for Hymmen & Co., Lüdenscheid, measuring 36.50 mm (w) x 44.32 mm (h), weighing 26.8 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a light wooden frame with a faux black leather exterior liner, the interior with a white rayon lid liner and intact hinge cover, the former marked with a gilded LDO insignia, with a slotted beige felt medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, measuring 66 mm (w) x 66 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), the badge demonstrating total loss of finish, in very fine condition.
