Germany, Wehrmacht. A Silver Grade Wound Badge, with Case, by the Vienna Mint
(Verwundetenabzeichen in Silber mit Etui). Constructed of silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, around a central raised Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with a clip hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked, measuring 36.48 mm (w) x 43.90 mm (h), weighing 33.8 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a light wooden frame with a faux maroon leather exterior liner, the interior with a white rayon lid liner and slotted maroon felt medal bed, the base retaining a label bearing the maker’s mark of the Vienna Mint, measuring 65 mm (w) x 65 mm (l) x 18 mm (h), in overall extremely fine condition.
