Germany, SA. A 1934 “Civilian and Military (SA & SS) Ski Championship” Badge, by C. Poellath
A very fine quality Deutsches und Heeres Skimeisterschaften Berchtesgaden SA & SS Skimeisterschaften badge (7-12.February.1934); in fine quality silver washed die-struck bronze with very fine black, white, red, blue, and flesh-toned coloured intact enamels. On the obverse is a ski jumping figure in a blue sports uniform, superimposed on black skies, with a white and red enamel national swastika flag, a tri-colour flag, and a German Ski Association (Deutscher Ski Verein) flag in the background. The bottom edge of the badge features black and red Gothic writing “German’s and Army Ski Championship 7-12.February.1934, SA and SS Ski Championship”. The reverse features a horizontal pinback, and is maker marked “C. Poellath, Schrobenhausen”. The badge measures 41 mm x 30 mm and is in better than extremely fine condition.
