This is a very rare full-size and high quality manufacture “KLasse F” International Gliding Commission (IGC) - Internationale Segelflugkommission (ISK) - Federation Aeronautique Internationale (FIA) gliding award stick pin with a period case; in gold (marked “585” for gold content - 14k gold); also set with three genuine diamonds at the top; engraved “Nr 1420 H.J” on reverse; 54 mm long pin with a very sharp tip; measuring 21 mm in diameter; weighing 7.4 grams; in mint condition. Case in cardstock with a leatherette exterior; measuring 97 mm x 30 mm x 19 mm; near mint condition.
Any Third Reich period awards with Diamonds are very rare and desirable.Footnote: The International Gliding Commission awarded a series of proficiency badges to glider pilots on their successful completion of the appropriate tests and gliding trials. The “F” class certificate was awarded for the completion of a 300 kk predefined flight, gliding 500 km in one flight, and gaining 5 km in altitude.
