Germany, Third Reich. A 1937 Württemberg State Theatre Plaque with Case
(Württemberg Staatstheatre Erinnerungsplakette). Constructed of bronze magnetic metal, the obverse with a richly-detailed depiction of the Württemberg State Theatre in Stuttgart, topped by dates “1912-1937” and above an inscription of “WÜRTT. STAATSTHEATRE”, the reverse with a rightward-facing profile of the Führer above an inscription of “WIR KÖNNEN UNS KEINE WIEDERAUFSTIEG DES DEUTSCHEN VOLKES DENKEN, WENN NICHT WIEDERERSTEHT AUCH DIE DEUTSCHER KULTUR UND VOR ALLEM DIE DEUTSCHE KUNST” (“WE CANNOT THINK OF THE CONTINUATION OF THE GERMAN PEOPLE WITHOUT THE CONTINUATION OF GERMAN CULTURE AND, ABOVE ALL, GERMAN ART”), unmarked, measuring 60 mm (w) x 40 mm (h), accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of card stock with a faux mauve leather exterior, unmarked, measuring 67 mm (w) x 46 mm (l) x 10 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
