Germany, Third Reich. A 1942 German-Croatian Bowling Tournament Table Medal, with Case, by B.H. Meyer
(Deutschland-Kroatien Kegler-Freundschaftskampf Tafelmedaille mit Etui). Constructed of silvered zink, the obverse bearing a raised depiction of a figure poised to throw a bowling ball, flanked on the left by an NSRL-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse bearing an etched inscription of “ZUR ERINNERUNG AN DEN KEGLER-FREUNDSCHAFTSKAMPF DEUTSCHLAND-KROATIEN, LEIPZIG, 10. JAN. 42., WERNIGERODE, 11. JAN. 42.” (“IN COMMEMORATION OF THE BOWLING FRIENDSHIP TOURNAMENT GERMANY-CROATIA, LEIPZIG 10. JAN. 42., WERNIGERODE, 11. JAN. 42.”, maker marked “B.H. MEYER, PFORZHEIM, measuring 70 mm (w) x 50 mm (h), accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a heavy card stock frame with a faux red leather exterior liner, the interior with a padded beige rayon lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a depressed red velvet medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked, measuring 100 mm (w) x 80 mm (l) x 28 mm (h), the medal has lost its original finish and the case demonstrates minor material fatigue to the exterior liner, in overall very fine condition.
