Germany, Third Reich. A Civil Service 50-Year Faithful Service Cross by Deschler & Sohn
(Treuedienst-Ehrenzeichen Sonderstufe für 50 Jahre). Instituted 30 January 1938. (1938-1945 issue). Constructed of gilded and silvered bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with pebbled arms, the obverse with a black swastika, the twelve o’clock arm with a gilded number “50”, the reverse with a central inscription of “FÜR TREUE DIENST” (“FOR FAITHFUL SERVICE”), the suspension loop maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “1” for Deschler & Sohn, München, measuring 41.36 mm (w) x 45.68 mm (h), weighing 20.2 grams (inclusive of ribbon), age-appropriate tarnishing evident, in overall near extremely fine condition.
