Germany, Third Reich. A Badge for Merit in Fire Fighting by the Prussian Mint, with Case
(Erinnerungszeichen Verdienste um das Feuerlöschwesen mit Etui). Instituted 21 December 1933 by Wilhelm Frick. (1934-1936 issue). Constructed of silver, the obverse with a central fire fighter clutching a hose and blowing a horn, above a burning building, circumscribed by an inscription of “FÜR VERDIENSTE UM DAS FEUERLÖSCHWESEN” (“FOR MERIT IN FIRE FIGHTING”), the reverse with a vertical pinback, marked “SILBER” with a content number of “900”, maker marked “PREUSS. STAATSMÜNZE” for the Prussian Mint, measuring 29.21 mm (w) x 41.91 mm (h), accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of card stock with a faux black leather exterior, the interior with a white satin lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a slotted blue velvet medal bed, opening with a functional magnetic metal spring catch with exterior stud release and a functional magnetic metal hinge, unmarked, measuring 54 mm (w) x 65 mm (l) x 16 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
