Germany, Third Reich. A Fire Brigade Honour Badge, II Class, with Case
(Reichsfeuerwehr-Ehrenzeichen II. Klasse mit Etui). Instituted 22 June 1936 by Wilhelm Frick. (1936-1945 issue). Constructed of silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension, consisting of a Geneva Cross, the obverse with white enameled arms overlaid by stylized red flames, bearing a central white enameled disc overlaid by a black mobile swastika, the arms joined together through the quadrants by a circular ring bearing a raised inscription of “FÜR VERDIENSTE IM FEUER-LÖSCHWESEN” (“FOR MERIT IN FIRE-FIGHTING”), unmarked, measuring 43.36 mm (w) x 47.64 mm (h), weighing 17.4 grams, accompanied by its original presentation case, constructed of a light wooden frame with a faux black leather exterior liner, the interior with a padded white rayon lid liner and partially-intact hinge cover, with a depressed black felt medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked, measuring 60 mm (w) x 70 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), minor flecking and loss of finish is visible to the enamels and base metal of the award, respectively, while the interior of the case demonstrates minor material fatigue, in near extremely fine condition.
