Germany, Third Reich. A Fire Brigade Honour Cross, II Class, with Case

(Reichsfeuerwehr-Ehrenzeichen II. Klasse mit Etui). Instituted 22 June 1936 by Wilhelm Frick. (1936-1945 issue). Constructed of silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Geneva Cross, the obverse with white enameled arms bearing stylized flame designs, with a central white enameled disc bearing a black mobile swastika, with a ring through the quadrants bearing a raised inscription of “FÜR VERDIENST IM FEUERLÖSCHWESEN” (“FOR MERIT IN FIRE-FIGHTING”), the reverse plain, unmarked, measuring 43.85 mm (w) x 48.98 mm (h), weighing 16.3 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a heavy card stock frame with a faux black leather exterior, the interior with a padded white satin lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a depressed black velvet medal bed, opening with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release and a functional metal hinge, unmarked, measuring 58 mm (w) x 70 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), some flecking of the cross enamels is evident, in overall near extremely fine condition.
