(Medaillen). A group of four commemorative medals.
1) An 1888 Year of the Three Emperors medal, constructed of bronze, the obverse shows the right-facing busts of Wilhelm II, Friedrich III, and Wilhelm I surrounded by an inscription of their names, the reverse shows a Prussian eagle coat of arms, surrounded by the inscription “DAS DREI KAISER JAHR 1888” (“YEAR OF THE THREE EMPERORS”), measures 36 mm in diameter, and in fine condition.
2) An “In Memory of My Service” medal, constructed of bronze, the obverse presents the bust of Wilhelm II in uniform wearing his military decorations, surrounded by the inscription “WILHELM II. DEUTSCHER KAISER,” the reverse centre presents an 1870 Iron Cross with branches of oak leaves spreading around the cross, with the inscription “ZUR ERINNERUNG AN MEINE DIENSTZEIT” (“IN MEMORY OF MY SERVICE,” measures 28 mm in diameter, and in fine condition.
3) A First War German medal for fallen comrades, constructed of blackened magnetic medal, the obverse presents a German soldier and the inscription “ICH HATT EINEN KAMERADEN,” the obverse shows the inscription “AM SCHMUCK DER RUHE STAETTEN UNSERER TAPFERN HALF WER DIESES EISEN ZEICHEN NAHM” (“AT THE NEAT
maker mark “HOSAEUS,” measures 33 mm in diameter, on ring for suspension, and in very fine condition.
4) A German Gold for Iron medal, constructed of blackened magnetic medal, the obverse depicts a rightward-facing kneeling woman offering a necklace, inscribed “IN EISERNER ZEIT 1916,” the reverse presents the inscription “GOLD GAB ICH ZUR WEHR EISEN NAHM ICH ZUR EHR,” maker mark “HOSAEUS,” measures 39.5 mm in diameter, and in good condition.
