Germany, Ordnungspolizei. A Police Long Service Medal, III Class for 8 Years, with Case
(Dienstauszeichnung der Polizei, III. Klasse für 8 Jahre mit Etui). Instituted 30 January 1938. (1938-1945). Constructed of silvered bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised Ordnungspolizei insignia in the form of an oval oak leaf wreath overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse with a central raised number “8”, circumscribed by a raised inscription of “FÜR TREUE DIENSTE IN DER POLIZEI” (“FOR FAITHFUL SERVICE IN THE POLICE”), unmarked, measuring 38.06 mm in diameter, weighing 22.9 grams (inclusive of ribbon), accompanied by its period original case, constructed of card stock with a faux dark green leather exterior, the exterior of the lid bears silver embossed number “8” within a cogwheel, the interior of the lid features a maroon felt liner, with a maroon felt medal bed, unmarked, measuring 48 mm (w) x 100 mm (l) x 16 mm (h), in overall near extremely fine condition.
