Germany, Ordnungspolizei. An Ordnungspolizei Long Service Medal, III Class for 8 Years, with Case
(Dienstauszeichnung der Polizei III. Klasse für 8 Jahre). Instituted 30 January 1938. (1938-1945). Constructed of silvered bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with horizontal pinback, the obverse bearing a raised Ordnungspolizei insignia in the form of an oval oak leaf wreath overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse with a central raised number “8”, circumscribed by an inscription of “FÜR TREUE DIENSTE IN DER POLIZEI” (“FOR FAITHFUL SERVICE IN THE POLICE”), unmarked, measuring 38.11 mm in diameter, weighing 24.6 grams (inclusive of ribbon), accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of two pieces of card stock with a faux olive-drab exterior, the lid bearing a silver embossed number “8” within a cogwheel, with a red felt interior liner, measuring 48 mm (w) x 100 mm (l) x 15 mm (h), in overall extremely fine condition.
