Germany, Third Reich. A Badge for Merit in Fire Fighting by the Prussian Mint
(Erinnerungszeichen Verdienste um das Feuerlöschwesen). Instituted 21 December 1933 by Wilhelm Frick. (1934-1936 issue). Constructed of silver, vertical pinback, the obverse with a central fireman blowing a horn and clutching a hose, above a burning building, circumscribed by an inscription of “FÜR VERDIENSTE UM DAS FEUERLÖSCHWESEN” (“FOR MERIT IN FIRE-FIGHTING”), with a mobile swastika at the bottom, the reverse maker marked for “PREUSS. STAATSMÜNZE” for the Prussian State Mint, with a silver content number of “900”, measuring 29.24 mm (w) x 41.88 mm (h), weighing 16.1 grams, in extremely fine condition.
