Germany, Third Reich. A Bavarian Industry 25-Year Faithful Service Badge, with Case and Miniature, by Deschelr & Sohn
(Treuedienstabzeichen der Bayerischen Industrie mit Miniatur und Etui). Constructed of silver with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with a zink backplate and horizontal pinback, the obverse consisted of a blue and white enameled Bavarian national shield, flanked by raised Bavarian national lions rampant clutching a cogwheel, above a mobile swastika flanked by oak leaves, topped by an inscription of “EHRE DER ARBEIT” (“HONOUR LABOUR”), the reverse bearing a central raised inscription of “FÜR 25 JAHRE TREUE DIENSTE” (“FOR 25 YEARS OF FAITHFUL SERVICE”), circumscribed by a raised inscription of “DIE BAYERISCHE INDUSTRIE” (“BAVARIAN INDUSTRY”), the edge marked with a silver content number of “900”, measuring 33.92 mm (w) x 49.50 mm (h), weighing 36.6 grams (inclusive of ribbon and backplate), accompanied by a miniature, of identical construction and composition, unmarked, measuring 15.18 mm (w) x 23.08 mm (h), weighing 4.1 grams (inclusive of ribbon), also accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a light wooden frame with a faux blue leather exterior, the exterior of the lid bearing a gilt inscription of “TREUDIENSTABZEICHEN DER BAYERISCHEN INDUSTRIE” (“FAITHFUL SERVICE BADGE OF BAVARIAN INDUSTRY”), the interior with a padded white satin lid liner and intact hinge cover with an additional ribbon securing in place a length of replacement ribbon, with a depressed and slotted beige felt medal bed, opening with a functional metal snap button and functional metal hinge, the reverse exterior maker marked “DESCHLER & SOHN, MÜNCHEN”, measuring 68 mm (w) x 132 mm (l) x 22 mm (h), with minor material fatigue evident to the case, in overall extremely fine condition.
