Germany, Third Reich. A Civil Service 40-Year Faithful Service Decoration, with Case
(Treudienst-Ehrenzeichen für 40 Jahre mit Etui). Constructed of gilded bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with horizontal pinback, consisting of a Cross Pattée with pebbled arms joined through the quadrants by a circular oak leaf wreath, the obverse bearing a central black swastika, the reverse bearing a central raised inscription of “FÜR TREUE DIENSTE” (“FOR FAITHFUL SERVICE”), unmarked, measuring 41.41 mm (w) x 46.33 mm (h), weighing 23.1 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a wooden frame with a faux red leather exterior liner, the lid bearing a gilt embossed number “40” within an oak leaf wreath, the interior with a white rayon lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a slotted red felt medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked, measuring 48 mm (w) x 102 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
